Maggie 25th Anniversary Issue. Thanks and Greetings are due!

I was hoping that this special issue of Maggie was going to be a more 'social' making of process, as opposed to the somewhat single-handed approach taken with recent projects such as 'Mag!' and similar.

Whilst not being buried under mountainous piles of articles from many people, I have been gratified by the responses that I did get.

Quite a lot of old Maggie people responded to my hailing frequencies, and were kind enough to update me on their current status in life. Their story is in its own article "Where are they now?" A few of these, and some other people, managed to step in with some actual contributions or assistance for same, or else have been awesome elsewhere in an Atari scene context, which has helped here too. This text file is their story.

Contributors:

Felice - He's back in his old role as the de-facto deputy editor for the traditional ST version of this issue. He's thrown in some text, and also spent time getting reacquainted with the workings of the old Maggie diskmag shell (the VERY old version it seems.) We're off to STNICCC soon, where this all comes to some sort of climax. (Or possibly shortly after then, we'll see.)

Havoc - He's kindly agreed to provide a cover picture for the ST shell. At time of writing, I don't know any more, but I'm sure it will be kickass awesome!

Mr Pink - He's back and came up with a lengthy report on the Toronto International Film Festival. This took place over ten days. Leon watched the lot. I bet by the end of it, he was like Alex from 'A Clockwork Orange' after getting the aversion therapy where his eyes were wired open! Anyway, it's been great to hear from him again.

Tat - He's been back in touch too. We have a good pair of articles from him. There is also much kudos to him for continuing to care about us.

Mike Noyce - He came back with a nice letter when contacted. He's been away for years but he still lurks in the shadows and follows the movements of the Atari scene.

Kev 'Taff' Davies - He's stayed in touch down the ages since that final regular Maggie, fifteen years ago. He's also managed to put fingers to keys in a fond act of remembrance. Nice one Taff!

Jody Smith - I managed to pin him down through official channels. He works for a national television broadcaster doing important stuff, and also other 'stuff' in his own time. He wrote a couple of articles for us in his inimitable style.

George Nakos - You might remember the odd thing that he did for Maggie. A fractal intro for one of the later issues springs to mind, as well as contributions for the Alive diskmag. He provided a great article about the making of his latest demo.

Doug Little - Doug is generally awesome and continues to amaze us. For this special issue of Maggie, he spent quite a bit of time answering my questions. Go and read his amazingly detailed interview.

Sietse 'Slimer' Postma - A major addition to the Maggie 25th textual mountain comes courtesy of a reappeared Slimer, who passed to me his cherished legacy of carefully preserved articles for the never released Diskbusters Mag, issue 15. After removing the superfluous bits (mainly my old stuff), a 'Mini-Mag' tribute to DBA 15 is now in here.

Before we go any further, here's a weird little coincidence I noticed just now. Apart from Arnel, who wasn't a writer, all of the attending party from the UK for Symposium '96 are represented here! (With an extra Dutch person.) If you look back over the contributors list. I'm right, aren't I?

Greetings also go out to the following:

Moving on to some of the more indirect contributors, or inspirations to do this thing in the first place, the first shout-out goes to Dead Hackers Society (DHS), for their sunburst of a demo last summer. Also for their general concentrated and continued scene support. Thanks guys. This place would be a lot paler and quieter without your efforts.

Lonny Pursell spent a bit of time upgrading and fixing things in zView. This went on to be the basis of an article.

Orion has been amazingly productive over the last twelve or so months. We've had demos and cool games such as 'Alice's Mom's Rescue' on just about every retro platform there is, or so it seems!

Simon Cam was another person who's been busy for the cause of Atari scene-dom. With two new games whipped up from old source code.

Thadoss has maintained his presence with a massive update to 'Racer'. He's intending to be back at Sillyventure next year. I wonder if there are more cool stuffs to come from him beforehand?

Anima made his mark on 2015 with 'Cho Ren Sha', possibly the ultimate shooter on the Falcon 030 (for now?)

Checkpoint, especially for SPKR. It seems that 2015 was his breakout year. This is not to neglect the others of course.

Richard Karsmakers, sometimes known as Cronos. He's provided the arena and motivation for a Maggie 25th anniversary to strut its stuff. Namely his own anniversary, the STNICCC 25th anniversary party. We're off there shortly. We will let you know how it went!

All other people to be at STNICCC. There's too many of them to list. But there are a lot of names that haven't been seen at a party in years. I'm not just talking about the guys from olden times in 1990 either.

The inevitable lame cop-out "Anyone else I missed". Well I'm sure there will be other parties and further interest for future times. After all, the scene 'died' in 1992, just that it forgot to read the memo!

CiH - For Maggie 25th Anniversary, December 2015.
