Some Useful Links for Atari Related Goodies. Here's something that might benefit the rare first time reader of Maggie. In the HTML version, where links have been indicated, these have been made 'live' in the event of an internet connection being provided on the computer it's being read on. A number of articles have links, especially where a review is going on. But there are many others, where a prior familiarity with the subject matter is taken for granted and no link is to be found within the text. So we've included some common links for those people who might not be so sure where to find these really cool demos, games and utilities. The Dead Hackers Society - Your one-stop shop for news on new Atari demos and games. It's biased towards demos and the 16/32 bit family members generally. It also contains several other resources such as a BBS area, extensive picture and video libraries and downloads of many useful tools for creating your own stuff on Atari. It should be a first stop for anyone interested. Pouet Site - This features the wider demo scene in all its hideous glory. The Atari productions can be found there too, along with things made for almost every hardware platform made. Be warned, there is a high internet drama content in some parts. Demozoo Site - A comparatively recent site, set up as the ultimate demo scene archive for just about everything made under that banner. Nothing is too obscure to be rescued and deposited there. It's also the first place to go to when a demo party finishes. A decent resource and refreshingly opinion-free, if you prefer it that way. Atari Org - The predecessor to the Demozoo concept, at least for Atari related material. The home page hasn't been updated for a while, but there's lots of (mainly but not totally) historical links to all manner of places. There's some genuinely useful and updated subdomains, such as 'sndh.atari.org' in there. Hatari Emulator - This is the website for the most comprehensive Atari emulator for the PC/Mac. It is the only Falcon 030 emulator at time of writing this. If you want to try some of the productions reviewed but don't have any original hardware, this is a great place to start. SainT Atari emulator - The most accurate Atari ST/STE emulator from Leonard of Oxygene. This one is absolutely essential for running some difficult productions that other emulators cannot reach (as yet.) Atari Forum - A useful discussion area and resource for various Atari topics. It caters for all levels of interest and ability. Atari Age - A very wide ranging site for all flavours of Atari. It's more of interest for the fans of the various Atari consoles down the ages than the computer people. It has a very 'interesting' Jaguar forum, where news and resources for the final console can be found. Along with frequent outbreaks of drama, oh yes. STNICCC Site - The main site or mothership for the big party that we attended recently in the Netherlands. Along with material for the previous 1990 and 2000 parties. There's a fair bit to see there. These are not links, but other interesting key words to type into search engines, might take the form of the following - 'Outline', 'Sommerhack' and 'Sillyventure' combined with the words 'demo' and 'party'. And I think, that's it for the ones that I can find off the top of my head. There are other links in some of the articles to more specific locations, as stated earlier. But this should give a new reader a good start. CiH - Maggie 25th Anniversary, Jan 2016.
