A letter from Mike NoyceHe wrote for ST News back in the day and managed to kick out a few articles for us as well. He even managed to attend the Maggie 5th birthday party, back in 1995 and came along with us on the (in)famous Symposium '96 adventure. Since then, things have been quiet from that direction, and he's gone and done all the 'getting on with life' things. However, for this special 25th anniversary issue of Maggie, he responded to hailing frequencies being opened, with the rather nice letter below. I thought this was a bit too lengthy for the main 'Where are they now?' article, so it got its own text. CiH - Nov 2015. Hi Chris, I hope you are well. I thought I'd better get something to you before the deadline of midnight tonight. I'm not sure exactly what you are after and how much, and you might know some of this already. There's not much to tell you really. As a far the official 'where are they now' is concerned, I've been working in Information Technology as a UNIX and network administrator in local government since I left university in 1999. I also dabble in a bit of Linux and FreeBSD admin as well on my own kit at home. I started a relationship with my university sweetheart and now we're living together in our new home and slowly (what with everything else going on) getting everything sorted out for our future together. When sorting things out to downsize and move house I had to sadly say good-bye to my Spectrum and Atari computers. I transferred most of the floppy disks (games, demos, etc...) I had to Pasti disk images and put all the manuals and other bits in a box for safe keeping. I still keep an eye on what is going on in Atari land. I'm still in contact with Kevin Davies and watch his and others (The Joy of Sticks and AtariCrypt) You Tube videos with interest. I fire up Hatari once in a while to enjoy some of the classic “old skool” demos and play a few of my favourite games from back in the day. It reminds me of happy and fun times that I was glad to be small part of with my involvement in both ST News and Maggie. And while I might be very much in the background these days, lurking on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, etc... I still remember all you guys with a great deal of fondness and great cheer. I look forward to reading all about STNICCC 2015 and the special 25th anniversary themed issue of Maggie. All my very best wishes, Mike Noyce
