HOVERSTRIKE JAGUAR

S t o r y . . .

You fear the worst for the planet's missing colonists.
Communications have ceased from the distant colony for over six
months. Federation scouts have discovered that Terrakian Pirates have
taken over the planet, their deadly machines patrolling every section
of the surface.

The planet's colonists have completely disappeard. The Terrakians have
established a horrible factory in the fourth quardrant, where they
process human corpses to extract valuable organic compounds.
You must lead the rescue mission to save the remaining humans, if any,
and regain the planet.

The Federation has chosen you to launch the preemptive strike. They've
provided you with preliminary reconnaissance reports. A military
transport will slip through the enemy's shields and take you to the
dropzone. Your vehicle is a state-of-the-art armored hovercraft. It is
THE ultimate war machine.

Your mission is to knock out key targets in each zone...

When the Jaguar has been turned on and the regular intro has been ended
or skipped, the title screen appears. If you wait for a few seconds, a #
texture-mapped globe comes on the screen and the story will be displayed,
followed by a demo and the highscores...

It is also possible to save your games in the mission select screen.
In the mission select screen you can choose between the 4 missions in
the first world. In total there are 5 worlds...

Time to play it...

The game starts with a little sequence, showing a ship which is dropping your
hovercraft.

Smash! The ground is hard.

The controlls are a bit tricky, A to move foreward, B to shoot and C to brake,
but because you are a hovercraft you wont stop at once and when you hover over
a hill your craft will slide a bit tho the left or right, very realistic but
very tricky. Now you must destroy the targets that were displayed in the
briefing. But you will be stopped by the enemies.

E n e m i e s . . .

GUN TURRET : The remote-controlled gun emplacement comes standard with
laser cannons, and it is firing is extremely accurate,
             even against a moving target.

HEAVY ARMORED TANK : This is a powerful offensive weapon, but it is not very
                     mobile. Equipped with a rapid-firing missile-launcher.

DREDGING FLOATER : These enemy crafts sometimes carry powerups, transporting
them for the Terrakian troops. Although not heavily arored,
they can be dangerous in groups.

PATROL FLOATER : The Patrol Floater is equipped with twin photon cannons and
                 guided by vicious seek-and-destroy robotics.

CLOAKING FLOATER : The same as the Dredging Floater, only this one can
disappear from your radar. Targeting one is difficult, and they only become
                   visible when attacking.

These where only a few of the enemies, there are much more...

W e a p o n s . . .

Besides your normal photon cannon there are some more weapons...

MISSILES : These fly straight foreward and are much more powerfull than your
           photon cannon.

GUIDED MISSILES : With these missiles is it possible to lock the target first
and then guide the missile to the target.

MORTARS : Engaging the Mortar launcher allows you to lob powerful explosives
at all targets. But they only explode when hitting the ground.

FLARES : Use them to light up the area, very use full in the dark missions.

It is also possible to play Hoverstrike with two players. The 2 player game
can be startet at every time during the game. Simply plug the second joypad
into your Jaggie and move up and down orso. The second player has now the
role of the gunner on your Hovercraft...

C o n c l u s i o n . . .

Hoverstrike is an average game for the Jaguar. It does not take the Jaguar to
its limits. Though the graphics are good, but the texture mapping is a bit
coarse and the music and soundeffects are not spectecular...
